Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is considering the adoption of a new high school textbook to be used in U.S. history classes. “U.S. History Interactive: Reconstruction to Present,” by Emma J. Lapsansky-Werner, Peter B. Levy, Randy Roberts and Alan Taylor was recommended by a textbook selection committee consisting of instructional staff, parents and students. The resource can be viewed online until 3 p.m., Monday, April 10.
If approved for use by the Board of Education of Charles County, the textbooks will be incorporated into the history curriculum for high school freshmen and sophomores starting in school year 2023-2024.
The textbook can be accessed and reviewed online at the Savvas Realize — U.S. History Interactive Link. To view the book, click Sign in, then type in the Username AmarilloA831 and Password Savvas#1.
After CCPS staff presents information at the March Board of Education meeting about the textbook, the book will be available for public review during the next 30 days. Feedback will be collected via a form. Click here to access the feedback form on the U.S. history interactive resources.
The Board of Education is reviewing the book and will act on the proposal at its May 9 meeting.
