A new curriculum resource for Spanish classes is being proposed by a Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) textbook committee made up of instructional specialists, parents and students. If approved, the text will be used starting in the 2023-2024 school year.

“En voz alta: Español para hispanohablantes,” by Carmen Herrera, Paula Hidalgo, Ph.D., and Janet Boring, is being considered by the Board of Education of Charles County as a textbook to be used by staff and students in Heritage and Native Spanish courses. The resource is required to support students and teachers with a literary-based Spanish for heritage and native speakers’ pathway. The textbook is aligned with the ACTFL World — Readiness Standards.
