Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) will hold a “Pink Out” Friday, Oct. 25, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. CCPS students and staff can wear shades of pink to honor those who survived, who are fighting, who have passed away from or who are caring for someone with breast cancer.

Staff and students who participate in the “Pink Out” can use #ccpspinkout24 on social media to share photos and videos from the day.

October was first established as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 1985. The American Cancer Society estimates there will be 313,510 new cases of breast cancer cases reported in 2024.

For more information about breast cancer, visit the American Cancer Society’s website at https://cancerstatisticscenter.cancer.org/types/breast. CCPS supports Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The local Relay is scheduled for 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at St. Charles High School at 5305 Piney Church Road in Waldorf.
