Community School
What is a Community School?
Community schools are a collaborative approach to education that integrates academic, social, and health services, creating a supportive environment for students, families, and communities. By providing resources and addressing various needs, community schools aim to foster student success and well-being. This year, our focus at Jenifer Elementary School is on gathering data to identify the top three needs of our community, improving school attendance to reduce chronic and habitual absenteeism, supporting families facing food insecurity, connecting families to vital community resources, enhancing student recognition for academic progress, and increasing MCAP and iReady test scores.
What is a Community School Coordinator?
A Community School Coordinator is the liaison or connecter of the school and community. We create, strengthen and maintain the bridge between the school and community. We facilitate and provide leadership for the collaborative process and development of services for children, families and community members within a school neighborhood.
Who is our Community School Coordinator?
My name is Amy Martinez and I am excited to be working with Jenifer Elementary School. This will be my 6th year as a Community School Coordinator. This year we will be working to understand the needs within the community to build programing. I would like to thank you in advance for the work we will be doing together.
