Dr. LaZedrick Jemison, Ed.D., was appointed principal of Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School in 2025. He joins Charles County Public Schools from Fairfax County Public Schools, where he served as an elementary principal since 2023. Prior to his leadership in Fairfax, Dr. Jemison held multiple administrative roles with Denver Public Schools in Colorado, including interim principal, principal resident, assistant principal, and dean. He also served as an assistant principal in Aurora Public Schools, gaining extensive experience in Title I elementary schools.

Dr. Jemison holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Alabama A&M University, a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Howard University, and a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership from Argosy University. He also earned a post-doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership from Harvard University.

A proven instructional leader, Dr. Jemison is recognized for improving academic performance, strengthening school culture, and fostering environments where students and staff thrive. He champions collaboration and shared leadership, working alongside staff, families, students, and the community to build strong, inclusive partnerships. Committed to student voice, equity, and well-being, he proactively addresses behavior and mental health needs while ensuring every student feels heard and respected.

Dr. Jemison is deeply committed to data-informed decision-making and continuous instructional improvement. He brings expertise in pedagogy, social-emotional learning, behavioral intervention, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and the development of effective Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

At Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School, our mission is clear: to prepare every child for success at the highest levels of education. We offer a rigorous academic program that emphasizes deep conceptual understanding in mathematics and a literacy approach that combines direct instruction with authentic reading and writing experiences. Students are encouraged to think critically, explain their reasoning, and approach problem-solving with creativity and confidence.

Title I funding enhances our capacity to provide specialized math and reading support, professional learning, and instructional coaching.

Jae Johnson
Assistant Principal

Ms. Jae Johnson, MScEDL, is honored to serve as Assistant Principal at Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School, bringing over 20 years of experience as a classroom teacher and advocate for children. With a background in early childhood and elementary education, as well as mental health, Ms. Jae has created learning environments where students feel safe, seen, and celebrated. Known affectionately throughout the community as “Ms. Jae,” she is committed to nurturing both the academic and emotional growth of every child.

Ms. Jae holds a Bachelor of Science in Mental Health Administration with a concentration in Public Health from Morgan State University and a dual Master of Science in Autism Studies and Educational Leadership from Towson University. She also holds certifications in Early Childhood Education and School Administration, and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership to deepen her impact as a school leader.

At Jenifer Elementary, Ms. Jae leads with intention, heart, and a student-first mindset. She has spearheaded several initiatives to uplift student voice, reintroduce student assemblies, strengthen PBIS systems, and increase community engagement. She believes leadership starts with empathetic listening and is rooted in strong relationships with students, staff, and families.

Ms. Jae’s educational philosophy is centered on equity, advocacy, and whole-child development. She believes students thrive when they feel loved, valued, and engaged in meaningful learning. Her mission is to ensure every child—regardless of background or ability—has the support needed to succeed. She is proud to serve in a school community that inspires children to dream big, grow boldly, and achieve greatly.

Amber Parry
Assistant Principal

Mrs. Parry joins the Jenifer Elementary community with 10 years of experience teaching special education at both the elementary and high school levels. Her background includes work in the ACHIEVE program as well as in inclusive classroom settings, supporting students with a wide range of needs.

Originally from Charles County, Mrs. Parry holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Special Education. She earned her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from McDaniel College and also holds an Administration I certification.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Parry has remained passionate about creating supportive, inclusive environments where all students can succeed. She values collaboration with staff and families to foster strong, student-centered learning communities.

Mrs. Parry is excited to serve the Jenifer community and looks forward to contributing to the success of every student. She is committed to helping all of our stars shine bright.
